As well as learning about
sexual reproductive health and the menstrual cycle, week two of Sistas Savve
saw the participants learn how to make doormats with Project Coordinator, Doris
Dakei (on right). Doris handed out lengths of fabric – offcuts in every colour of the
rainbow – and showed the group how to tie the ends together to make one long
continuous strip. Participants then used crochet hooks to crochet their strip
of fabric into a tight spiral shape. The end result: a beautiful doormat to welcome
wantok and guests! We’re planning to put our gorgeous Sistas Savve products
into gift shops and souvenir stores in Honiara so keep an eye out for these…
