An afternoon of giraffes and love-hearts

Sistas Savve had a special guest facilitator recently – Kelly from Australia dropped by to teach us how to applique beautiful images onto clothing for children. Sistas Savve participants spent the afternoon elbow-deep in zebras, giraffes, love-hearts and bunny rabbits!

Sistas Savve is a two year project aiming to improve the health, economic and social status of young women in Honiara. It is a partnership between Solomon Islands Planned Parenthood Association (SIPPA), Solomon Islands Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA-SI) and Family Planning International New Zealand, and is funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme.

By providing a range of informal education opportunities, the young women will develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to earn a livelihood and develop leadership, reproductive health, nutrition, and parenting skills. Over two years, Sistas Savve will provide opportunities to 120 young women, their families and communities.
